MAD MEN!

Hope everyone is having a good weekend :) I just wanted to mention that a few days ago I saw on the television that Banana Republic will be launching a line based on Mad Men's costume designer Janie Bryant! It will be released August 11, but if you are a friend of theirs it will be available the day before. If you haven't checked this show out yet then you MUST go watch it!! The new season will air August 16 or sometime next year. (can't wait!!) It is such a thrill to watch and the fashions progress in such an authentic way. Here are a few images of the line.

working women

Here are a few amazing color photographs of women in the early 40s that worked for the Douglas Aircraft Co. in Long Beach. I find the colors to be amazing and it really brings to life what people really looked like back then. It also brings to life the colors they wore which is obviously not apparent in black and white images. Also, I like how we can see the full negative (in this case a positive) transparency, the notches on the right are there on purpose so that the photographer knows which is the top part of the negative. It even says Kodak on the side!  I found these photographs on Flickr, in The Library of Congress page. I like doing searches for these kind of images. They're so inspiring! Here are some of the most interesting ones I found. Till next time!  xoxo ~ Lise

commencement..

Hi world! As our first official post we would like to make it on what this blog will be about. We will be sharing some snap shots about our lives as well as our take on living a vintage/ rockabilly lifestyle. We will share our vintage finds, photography, some of our favorite music, classic cars, beauty reviews,  and everything in between!

As recent college graduates, we feel this blog will help us in our search to find ourselves and figure out what to do next in life. We are excited to embark on this journey and dedicate ourselves to what makes us happy and hope you all enjoy what we have to share.

When deciding on the name for our blog we was looking for a phrase, a song, or an excerpt from a book that could reflect what we are all about. So when looking through our top rated music we found this wonderful song called 'That's My Desire' by Frankie Laine. If you like love songs this is a nice one. It is about a guy describing a date with the woman he loves. (cute) So take a listen and stay tuned, there will be a lot more great stuff to come!

Below is an image of him (on the right) photographed by William P. Gottlib circa 1946.
