How to make friends by Telephone

Have you ever gotten a phone call by someone that sounds rude or like they don't care? We think everyone needs to read this as a reminder of proper phone etiquette. Currently, with so much new technology, it's so easy to avoid one on one contact with others. We have become so impersonal with things like texting. Sure, it's a quick way to communicate, but it's so much nicer and thoughtful to call someone now and then. Perhaps it's something that'll vanish like cursive writing? For those of you who'd like to know how to make friends over the phone, here's how 40s style. Enjoy!

RAIN.....

Well.... its raining here is Los Angeles. It doesn't rain here often, so as you can guess I'm not prepared! It doesn't rain here often so I searched online and found these AMAZING vintage/antique style umbrellas! The site is called Bella Umbrella. They have just about the most unique umbrellas ever... for rent that is. So, if you have a special event coming up, like a wedding or graduation, you can rent one of these beauties for about $20. They have some styles for sale but they're a bit pricey. I may order, one of these to protect me form the sun on our famously hot days. :)

My favorites are the pagoda and the double layered, which one is your favorite?

How to be a Retronaut

I recently stumbled on this site and wow.... it's like seeing history in images! You can see just about ANYTHING from 17th century skeletons from the catacombs of Rome, 1950's pin-ups and movie stars, to Video Game ads from the 1980's and 90's. The site is founded in England by Chris Wild. He describes a Retronaut as "someone who goes back in time using just perception". He believes you can open creative possibilities by changing how you think of time.
His site does just that. You can travel to any time period.... visually that is! I encourage you all to take a look at this site, it's an experience you won't soon forget!

"The Day the Music Died"

Today marks the 52nd anniversary of that fateful day of February 3, 1959 when Ritchie Valens, Buddy Holly, and The Big Bopper died in a plane crash in an Iowa field. They died at a time when rock n' roll was very young and were all pioneers in their own right. Their music continues to influence artists today and I for one am a big fan! Let's take a day to commemorate these legends...

Here are some of my favorite songs by them. This is Ritchie Valens' "Framed":

Big Bopper's "White Lightning":

and Buddy Holly's "Baby won't you come out tonight":
