Inspiration of the week

This week we want to showcase this wonderful portrait. We at My Desire Vintage love to obtain portraits like these and admire their beauty. It is very inspiring to see how little things like the design on the cover of this frame add a touch of interest, but without overpowering it. The woman in the portrait is radiant, her hair is simple but interesting and her gaze is captivating. The way it is all put together is what we find attracts us to the vintage lifestyle and the constant need to submerse ourselves with things from the past.

The Whriling Turban

With Valentine's day, and spring on the way, we cant help but feel the love in the air! With engagements and weddings on our minds we searched the web and stumbled on this gem! It's called the Whirling Turban, a vintage reproduction clothing maker. They make their dresses custom to order, with the best fabrics you could ask for in a vintage style dress. They try to replicate everything, from the fabric, cut, and stitching! We fell in love with this beautiful customizable mermaid wedding dress. These are great dresses for that special occasion or if you want to get something that's good quality that will last you a long time. Anyone heard of Miss Fury?

She's the first female superhero created and drawn by a woman in the 1940's. She was originally named Black Fury whose alter ego was Marla Drake. The Miss Fury character was loosely based her creator, June Tarpé Mills, who used her middle name to conceal her gender. We love Miss Fury! She shows us you don't need superpowers to fight crime.

Something To Try !

This is simple enough to do at home and better yet, inexpensive. This idea is derived from the famous Louboutin heels! Not too many of us would think of painting the underside of our nails bit it looks amazing.

Long Time

It's been quite a while since our last post.... But hey we are back! We vow to bring you more vintage wonders. 
We have been on the move and have gone all over L.A. looking for furniture. In our journey we found a wonderful spot named Wertz Brothers Furniture. While not everything in the store is vintage or antique it's still fun looking at all the cabinets, armoires, dressers, and desks. The staff is very friendly, helpful, and are honest about what you are about to purchase. We bought two 1910-1920 walnut, french style bed frames (pictures coming soon!). They have two locations, one is the furniture store (1607 Lincoln Blvd. Santa Monica, CA) and the other is an antique mart (11879 Santa Monica Blvd. West Los Angeles, CA) with 106 booths and 84 cases! We are making plans to visit the antique mart soon as well.
