My Week with Marilyn
We hope everyone is having a great Thanksgiving! Today we have a great movie to talk about, it was released yesterday. It is called "My Week with Marylin." It is based off actual events according to Eddie Redmayne, he spends a week visiting Marylin Monroe in between Shooting for the film 'The Prince and the Showgirl.' Eddie (Collin Clark in the film) lands a job as an assistant to the director. Like everyone else, he is amazed by her. He is lucky enough to see a side of her that no outsiders were able to see. She is able to confide in him while her husband leaves her side. It is then that he gets his chance to escort her around town. Overall, the film shows us her struggles as an actress trying to understand why everyone thinks she is so great. Also a peek at her playful side to her insecure side. Well, I dont want to spoil the rest so you've got to watch it . . . so go see it!
We watched it at the Arclight Cinema in Hollywood. Our favorite thing about that theater is that they display costumes and props from newly released films. There was a lot on display this week, but sure enough they had the dress, actress Michelle Williams (Marilyn) wore when she arrived in England. The dress is light gray and very simple. It doesn't look like much in person, but onscreen it looks magnificent! Also on display is a costume Kenneth Branagh (Sir Laurence Olivier) wore for his character in the film 'The Prince and the Showgirl.'
